Start with one complete unit and one reference
Place the reference you are enquiring about in the email subject and use it in the image filenames. If the number is unknown, assign a temporary label such as Unit A. Keep another machine's alternator in a separate group. This prevents a clear photo of the wrong unit from becoming part of the comparison.
Take one full-unit view, then a readable nameplate photograph. Copy the characters exactly, including suffixes, and mark anything uncertain. Preserve the original images; annotations or arrows can go on additional copies. Do not replace a damaged label with a guessed number.
Give the mounting points their own views
Photograph the mounting side straight on, then add an oblique view showing how the ears or brackets sit relative to the housing. Keep every relevant hole visible rather than filling the frame with only one. A close-up can support the full view, but should not replace it.
If a dimension needs checking, ask which points should be measured and how. Identify the measurement endpoints and unit. An angled image or a ruler somewhere in the background is not a dependable dimensional drawing.
Separate the connector view from the pulley view
For the rear, show the connector housing, visible terminals and their positions around the unit. Include readable markings where accessible. Do not guess pin functions from wire colour or describe a terminal hidden behind a hand as confirmed. If a connection cannot be photographed safely, explain the limitation.
For the front, include the complete pulley and an angled view of its position relative to the housing. Record belt or groove details only when they are actually known. If diameter or offset matters, request a defined measurement or drawing for the proposed replacement; visual similarity alone does not settle the comparison.

Send the photographs as a comparison pack
Add the machine and engine models, known voltage and rated output, quantity and destination. Identify which facts come from the existing label and which still need confirmation. When the supplier responds, request corresponding views of the proposed unit and keep the offer reference beside them.
Resolve differences before treating an offer as the selected replacement. The purpose of this photo set is to make questions precise, not to certify interchangeability. Photograph only safely accessible features; do not energize or dismantle a unit simply to complete the list.
