A starter motor RFQ worksheet for clear, comparable quotations

A starter motor quotation is easier to compare when each supplier is answering the same request. Instead of forwarding scattered messages, prepare one line-item record and keep unknown details visible. This worksheet complements a technical identification check; it does not replace one. Representative supplied footage; not a record of your order.

Starter connection side. Cropped from original footage; no model or fitment claim.
A starter connection-side view. A visual reference supports an inquiry, but is not a fitment confirmation.

Keep identification facts separate from assumptions

Begin with the complete existing part number and any OEM reference, plus clear label photographs. Record the machine make and model, engine make and model, and relevant serial information if available. Distinguish a number read from the unit from one suggested by a catalogue or previous supplier.

Include voltage, rated power and pinion tooth count when supported by a readable label, reliable record or safe inspection. If tooth count or another detail is unknown, write Unknown. Do not estimate from a partly hidden pinion or dismantle equipment only to fill a box. Ask which additional reference or view would help.

Specify the product identity you will accept

Say whether genuine original equipment parts are required, an aftermarket replacement may be considered, or you want separate options. An OEM reference used for matching is not, by itself, a promise that the quoted product is genuine. A familiar housing or a photograph of assembly is not evidence of brand origin.

Ask each offer to identify the proposed manufacturer or brand, part reference, condition and any stated replacement relationship. If alternatives are acceptable, request separate quotation lines. Do not combine a genuine-only requirement with an unlabelled substitute and assume the price answers both.

Starter side profile. Cropped from original footage; no model or fitment claim.
Include a side profile alongside the part number, voltage and other known specifications.

Copy this line-item worksheet

Use one record per requested part. Give photographs matching filenames and keep uncertain specifications as questions. This leaves a readable trail if the proposed reference changes during review.

  • Buyer reference and requested product: starter motor, complete unit or named component.
  • Existing part number / OEM reference: exact characters; source of the number.
  • Machine and engine: make, model and relevant serial details if available.
  • Known specifications: voltage, power and tooth count; write Unknown for gaps.
  • Photos: label, complete unit, mounting face, pinion area and connections where safely accessible.
  • Required identity and condition: genuine original / aftermarket option acceptable / request separate offers.
  • Quantity: units for this request; separate any potential future volume.
  • Destination: country, city and postal code, or the nominated forwarder's delivery details.
  • Open questions: unclear reference, missing measurement, documentation or packing requirement.

Check the answer before placing the order

Compare the returned quotation against this record. Is the unit price for one complete starter or a component? Does the quantity match? Are freight and the proposed delivery arrangement identified separately? Ask for unclear inclusions to be written down before accepting the offer.

Keep any reference change, brand alternative or specification difference explicit. Ask for photos of the proposed item where an interface needs comparison. Availability, documentation and dispatch timing remain quotation-specific; workshop footage cannot confirm them.

Housing reference views. Cropped from original footage; no model or fitment claim.
Housing reference views can clarify the requested part; the team will confirm the quoted item separately.

Send one clear request, then fill the gaps

Send the worksheet to info@eexcavastart.com or use the parts inquiry form. You do not need to invent missing data to start a conversation: state what you know, what you need and which details require review. Use the technical cross-reference guide alongside the worksheet when checking the proposed replacement.
